No Martha Love for me......

At the moment.

Well. That's only partially true.

There are parts of Martha that I LOVE.

  1. martha

  1. I love the yarn - it is SO soft and warm

  2. I LOVE the concept of Martha - so simple yet effective

  3. I LOVE the construction of Martha - one piece

  4. I love the whole Skif 'go with the flo' concept.

There are parts of Martha that I UN-LOVE

martha

  1. The fact that I KNEW she would sit like she does - and still I knit her

  2. The fact that others have knit her and she fits like mine does

  3. The fact that others have knit her and have had to heavily modify her

  4. The fact that she ate over 13 balls of yarn

The fact that I HAD TO GET THE SCISSORS TO HER AND SHE IS STILL QUITE POSSIBLY GOING TO THE FROG POND!

martha

You know - I am not opposed to the total frog. I don't mind re-knitting something if I know I am going to wear it. So for now I am going to go and ponder. And maybe start a new pair of socks. Or spin. Or maybe gaze at the beautiful woven HABU scarf I created on the weekend.

Donyale,
I hate that you cut her! I'm still working on the first "band" because I'm working on a contract job, but when I finished knitting the body I could see what needed to be done on the bands....
One band becomes the collar, the other becomes the hem, or body, really. I'm going to use the band I'm knitting now as the collar. The next band I knit will be wider, not the width the pattern calls for, and it will ultimately lengthen my Martha when I sew it on. What think you of this? What part of Martha did you cut up? I can't really tell from the photo.

Don't hate the cut - it was the sleeves - they were WAY tooooooo long. It didn't hurt - it was quick and done with love!

I have already done a band and taken it off. The back of the piece is just the right length - the front is as short as the pattern would make it. My plan is to do a very small band at the back and two different front panels.....
